The American Society for Microbiology presents Microbes & Big History: Yellow Fever with Dr. John Tone, Professor of History in the School of History, Technology, and Society Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies in the Ivan Allen College

Microbes, they were there at all the big turning points, playing decisive roles that we are just beginning to understand. This talk examines some of these major turning points and argues that understanding microbes is essential to understanding history.

Dr. John L. Tone specializes in Spanish and Cuban military history and the history of medicine. He has written several articles and award winning books. His research is on the history of yellow fever.
