Michael Best
The Steven A. Denning Award for Global Engagement
Awarded annually to a Georgia Tech faculty member who has demonstrated a commitment to, and excellence in, the advancement of the Institute’s global engagement. This award seeks to recognize a tenured or tenure-track faculty member who has made a significant and sustainable impact in one or more of the following areas:
- promotes the recognition of Georgia Tech in other countries;
- advances research, education, and economic development engagement at the international level;
- enriches the experiences of international students or scholars;
- incorporates global perspectives in teaching or international components into the curriculum;
- gives of their time and influence to organize and/or promote international events, visitors, or other international exchanges at Georgia Tech;
- creates new ideas, structures, procedures, or products which promise to eliminate international inequalities, to promote global cooperation, or to foster respect for human dignity among nations and peoples of the world.
Margaret Kosal
Junior Faculty Outstanding Undergraduate Research Mentor Award
This award is given to one junior member of Georgia Tech’s general faculty in recognition of sustained outstanding achievement in mentoring undergraduates in research activities. Mentoring and research advising of undergraduates is an important component of undergraduate teaching. Criteria for this award include direct impact and involvement with undergraduates doing research, increasing their intellectual integrity and research scholarship and impact on their post graduate success.
