Tech Talks: "Why Does Society Need Science?"

Primary tabs

Atlanta science's version of TedTalks with a competitive edge! Local science students battle one another through sharing short talks that focus on the value of science to our society. Come join in for the final competition round of public friendly, science based short talks given by Atlanta area science undergraduate and graduate students. This event is part of the 2014 Atlanta Science Festival.

For the first ever TechTalks competition, we have asked our competitors to answer a deceptively simple question: Why Does Society Need Science?

Competitors include:

  • Tessa Solomon-Lane is a Neuroscience Ph.D. student at Georgia State University. She enjoys SCUBA diving to study fish in the wild.
  • Zev Greenberg is a Material Science and Engineering undergraduate student at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
  • Natalie Schloeder is an aerospace engineering Ph.D. student at Georgia Tech. Her research in electric propulsion in no way related to her talk.
  • Mahdi Al Husseini is a biomedical engineering undergraduate student at Georgia Tech. Mahdi dreams to make his mark on the world through public speaking.
  • Nick Selby is a mechanical engineering undergraduate student at Georgia Tech. Nick enjoys building race cars as part of Tech’s Solar Racing Club.
