Primary tabs

The Georgia Institute of Technology College of Architecture has two graduate programs that are among the best in the nation, according to Design Intelligence magazine. In the 2014 “America’s Best Architectural and Design Schools” edition, the Industrial Design graduate program tied for third place, moving up from the previous year’s seventh place ranking. The Architecture graduate program moved into the top 20 rankings with the program tied for No. 16 with Clemson University after being unranked in previous years. These rankings place both programs among the top schools in the South --- Industrial Design tied for second with Auburn University behind the Savannah College of Art and Design and Architecture tied for fourth with Clemson University behind Rice University, University of Texas at Austin and Virginia Tech.

“We’re pleased at the leaps these two programs have made in this year’s rankings. It is evidence that the College is moving in a very positive direction, and that our students are getting a high-quality and highly marketable education,” said Steve French, dean of the College of Architecture. “These rankings are important because they improve the employment prospects for our students and help us in recruiting the most promising students. We look forward to continuing to climb in the rankings, with the goal of having every one of our programs in the top 10 over the next few years.”

Design Intelligence administers the only comprehensive ranking of graduate architecture and design programs in the United States. The rankings are based on the input of professionals in architectural and design firms, school deans and chairs, and student surveys.
