The School of Industrial Design seeks two full-time, tenure track associate/assistant professors.
Assistant/Associate Professor in Product Development & Innovation
The School of Industrial Design at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Georgia is seeking to fill a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant/associate level working in the field of Product Development & Innovation. Familiarity with 3D modeling & digital design technologies, rapid prototyping and CNC Machining are essential. Candidates should have a strong track record and commitment to design, research, and teaching. A Ph.D. or an advanced degree in industrial design is preferred. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The School of Industrial Design currently offers a BSID, MID, M.S.-HCI (with a specialization in Industrial Design), an I.D. Minor and is working towards establishing a Ph.D. while currently offering a doctoral concentration in I.D. in connection with the School of Architecture.
Our mandate is to build design and research capabilities in collaboration with other well- recognized programs and centers on the Georgia Tech campus including:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Biomedical Engineering
- Architecture
- Interactive Computing
- Graphics Visualization and Usability Center (GVU)
- Human Computer Interaction (HCI)
- Center for Assistive Technology & Environmental Access (CATEA)
- AMAC Accessibility
- SimTigrate Lab
As a member of the Digital Fabrication Lab, successful candidates will be expected to develop a strong collaborative research agenda with one or more of the groups identified above; teach specialty courses in design theory or methodology related to product development and innovation; and teach an integrated design studio.
Assistant/Associate Professor in Interactive Product Design
The School of Industrial Design at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Georgia is seeking to fill a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant/Associate level working in the field of Interactive Product Design. Design and prototyping experience with microcontrollers and sensor-based technologies is essential. Candidates should have a strong track record and commitment to design, research, and teaching. A PhD or an advanced degree in industrial design is preferred. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
