At the annual Georgia Tech Faculty & Staff Honors Luncheon on April 10, 2013, four faculty members in the School of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering received awards.

  • Julie Champion, Assistant Professor

CETL/BP Junior Faculty Teaching Excellence Award

  • Michelle Dawson, Assistant Professor

Outstanding Undergraduate Research Mentor Faculty Award

  • Michael Filler, Assistant Professor

               Sigma Xi Young Faculty Award

  • Paul Kohl, Regents' Professor, Institute Fellow, Hercules, Inc./Gossage Chair, and Director of Semiconductor Research Corporation's Interconnect and Packaging Center at Georgia Tech

               Sigma Xi Sustained Research Award

Filler received the Sigma Xi Young Faculty Award for three published papers that yielded insight into the chemical processes that govern nanowire synthesis and provided a framework for reimagining the structure, properties, and uses of Si. "As I am frequently humbled by the caliber of research activities at Georgia Tech, this recognition is particularly meaningful," Filler says. "It is important to note that I only direct the orchestra. This award would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of the students in my research group."
