Smart Objects: Bringing things to life through code, form and electronics

Primary tabs

In 2011, Carla Diana founded the Smart Interaction Lab at Smart Design, an initiative focused on design explorations in the form of hands-on experimentation around topics such as expressive objects, digital making, and presence and awareness. In 2010 she took her studio on the road as one of MAD Museum’s Open Studio Artists in Residence where her creations were open for public viewing.  Her recent article entitled, "Our Walking, Talking Objects" was the feature story for the New York Times Sunday Review on January 26.

In this lecture, she will share a range of case studies of interactive installations, product designs and digital experiences that use dynamic behaviors to give objects personality and build an emotional connection with the people who use them.
