Sixty-six Georgia high school girls were honored for computing-related achievements at the 2012-13 NCWIT Aspirations in Computing Awards, held Feb. 24 in Atlanta and cosponsored by the College of Computing and the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT).

Those 66 young women were selected for their computing aptitude, leadership ability, academic history and plans for post-secondary education. The award winners, along with their families, were honored during a formal reception and award ceremony on Sunday afternoon in the Academy of Medicine building near Georgia Tech's campus. Representatives from Georgia Tech, including faculty, staff, students, corporate sponsors and other community leaders also were in attendance to celebrate the girls'  achievements.
 
The celebration is a part of the efforts of the College’s Office of Outreach, Enrollment and Community (OEC) to encourage the involvement of women in STEM fields and to recognize young achievers. This is the third annual NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing hosted by the College of Computing.
