On a crisp January morning, hundreds of Georgia Tech students woke up early—when they could have slept in—to begin a day of service in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy.  It’s only fitting that in Dr. King’s hometown, Georgia Tech students came together to support seven worthwhile service projects across Atlanta. 

Since the MLK Day of Service began at Georgia Tech three years ago, it’s been my great privilege to help plan the event. Organized and led by students, this new Georgia Tech tradition is a rewarding experience that not only strengthens our leadership skills but also enables us to serve the Atlanta community. The funding we receive from the Parents Fund for Student Life & Leadership is crucial to the success of the Day of Service, and directly supports our transportation needs for the day.

The MLK Day of Service is just one example of the many student-led programs supported by the Parents Fund. These leadership and civic engagement opportunities enhance our educational experience, building upon what we learn in the classroom and preparing us to be responsible global citizens.
