Applications for U.S. Teaching Assistantships in Austrian Secondary Schools

Primary tabs

U.S. Teaching Assistantships at Austrian Secondary Schools

This program is funded by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, the Arts and Culture (BMUKK), and teaching assistants are employed by school boards in all nine Austrian provinces. In 1962 the Austrian-American Educational Commission (AAEC), which manages the Fulbright Program in Austria, also assumed responsibility for recruiting US citizens to participate in this program and administering their applications. Since then over 2,900 college and university students from the United States have been placed as teaching assistants in Austrian secondary schools.  Although the participants in this program make a substantial contribution to the fulfillment of the Fulbright Program’s mandate to promote mutual understanding between the peoples of Austria and the United States, participants in the US Teaching Assistantship Program are not grantees in the Fulbright Program.
