Speaker information

  • John Pierson - Mr. Pierson is a Principal Research Engineer with the Georgia Tech Research Institute. His research interests ad- dress environmental technologies in a broad range of industrial applications. With regard to food, his particular focus is on disinfection and flow cell development for food safety sensing . He has 20 years of experience related to poultry and food processing.
  • Yiping Zhao, PhD - Zhao is a professor of physics and astronomy at UGA. He combines nanofabrication techniques with fundamental studies of liquid- nanostructure interactions to develop devices with bioscientific and engineer- ing applications.
  • Bosoon Park, PhD - Park is a member of the Faculty of Engineering at UGA and Research Scientist in the ARS Quality and Safety Assessment Research Unit, USDA, Athens, GA. His research interests are in the area of hyperspectral and real-time multispectral imaging and nanotechnology for food safety. The goal for the forum is to connect the medical/life sciences/biology and nanotechnology communities. The goal is to reach out researchers in the biomedical / life sciences areas and letting them know what nanotechnology can offer them in the advancement of their research. After the talks, a tour of the Institute for Electronics and Nanotechnology Cleanroom will be organized for the interested participants.

Lunch is included at no cost to the participants. Please RSVP via e-mail to Paul Joseph to make lunch reservations on or before November 16, 2012.
