"Wireless Implantable Neural Recording System"

This talk introduces a multi-channel wireless implantable neural recording (WINeR) system for electrophysiology and behavioral neuroscience research applications. The WINeR system was used to record epileptic activities from a rat. In a different in vivo experiment, place-specific firing fields of place cells, which are parts of the hippocampal-dependent memory, were mapped from a series of behavioral experiments from a rat.

"Therapeutic Manipulation of Cellular Oxygen-sensing Pathways after Stroke"

Stroke is a leading cause of death in the US however few effective treatments are available. The evolutionarily conserved adaptive response to low oxygen is a potent protective signaling pathway and novel therapeutic target. We show that pharmacological activation of oxygen-sensing pathways after stroke provides a potentially clinically applicable acute therapeutic intervention for the promotion of neuronal cell survival after ischemia.
