Serve at Central Night Shelter

Primary tabs

Students will serve at the Central Presbyterian Night Shelter, which offers a hot meal, a sack lunch, medical services, a place to stay and other services each night to homeless men during the winter months.

Generally, we spend the first couple hours eating dinner with the men, spending time with them and helping out with whatever the shelter needs. Lights go out between 10 and 11 p.m., and after that we take turns being awake to help the men with any medication, food or other issues they need help with. Lights go on at 5 a.m. and the men are out by 6 a.m. The project usually goes from about 6 or 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. with us arriving back on campus by 7 a.m. There is registration and a capacity of 5 people with carpooling option. Register online at MOVE's website.

This is part of MOVE's Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week. Learn more at move.gatech.edu.
