College of Architecture Research Forum: Brian Bowen, "Researching Construction History"

Primary tabs

Bowen has pioneered the introduction of construction industry studies into the College's curriculum and this includes a strong emphasis on researching the industry's history. In this session he will explain why the history of design and construction should be important to us, review his recent and current research and the lessons to be learned therefrom, and cover the activities of the Construction History Society of America, which the College helped organize in 2007. He believes that a broader view of construction history fits perfectly with the industry's moves to closer integration and can help guide that process.

About the CoA Research Forum

The College of Architecture in partnership with the Georgia Tech Library and Archives hosts this monthly research series held on the last Thursday of each month during the academic year. In each Forum, a CoA faculty member, research scientist, student, or colleague talks about his/her research. The purpose of the series is to provide an informal forum for members of the Georgia Tech community to present their work, explore ideas, and identify opportunities for collaboration. The talks are free and open to the public, in the Architecture Library from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
