If you are seeing pink lately at the Campus Recreation Center (CRC), it is for good reason. Several pink treadmills have arrived at the CRC in preparation for a month of breast-cancer-fighting workouts. During the month of October, the CRC has partnered with Cybex International to promote exercise and to raise money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Research shows that exercise likely reduces the risk of breast cancer in women of all ages and may even cut risks by 30 percent!

During the month of October, individuals and teams can sign up for the Pink Wall of Fame. Walk or run on one of our two pink treadmills, log your miles, and Cybex will donate 10¢ per mile for the month of October to Breast Cancer Research.

“We thought it was such a great cause to get involved with. It was also important to us to motivate teams and individuals to join - the more mileage tracked, the more money raised. Plus, it helps participants get fit which has proven significant in the prevention of cancer,” stated Christie Stewart, the Assistant Director for G.I.T. FIT programs at the CRC.

All participants will receive a pink wristband to mark their commitment to the cause.

The overall winners with the most miles will win prizes! So get your friends together, grab your running shoes, and start running toward a cancerless future! Run. Walk. Raise.
