Montoya leads research cruise on Gulf oil spill

Dr. Joe Montoya (Professor, School of Biology) was the chief scientist on a research cruise that recently returned from the Gulf of Mexico. The aim of the cruise was to study how the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill is affecting the water column and bottom sediments of the Gulf of Mexico. The shipboard science party included researchers from Georgia Tech, the University of Georgia, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, the University of California at Santa Barbara, the University of Mississippi, the University of Southern Mississippi, the University of Maryland, and East Carolina University.
