Georgia Tech's "It Gets Better" Premiere

The Georgia Tech Pride Alliance and the Writing and Communication Program will hold an event on the evening of October 10 that will kick off Georgia Tech Coming Out Week (National Coming Out Day follows on October 11). The screening and event activities is part of a national movement to reduce bullying and suicides among Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, and Questioning (LGBTQ) youth that will culminate in the National Coming Out Day October 11.

The event includes:

  • The first public screening of the Georgia Tech “It Gets Better” video. It Gets Better is a national movement to reduce bullying and suicides among LGBT youth.
  • A 45-minute talk-back with the video’s producers and several featured participants, who will offer a behind-the-scenes discussion of the videomaking process, discuss their experiences with coming out and the coming out process, and invite comments and questions from the audience;
  • A Storytellers-style performance by Matt Morris, a nationally-recognized musician and songwriter, who has worked with Sarah McLachlan, Justin Timberlake, Kelly Clarkson, the Indigo Girls, and Charlie Sexton. He will perform an acoustic set and speak about coming out, community, social media, and songwriting.
