MRSEC SEMINAR SERIES WITH DR. JAMES TOUR
The next MRSEC Seminar of the Fall 2011 semester will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at 3pm in the Suddath Seminar Room in the IBB building located on the first floor. We are pleased to welcome Dr. James Tour from Rice University, Houston, Texas, as our speaker. His talk is titled: Graphene Synthesis and Applications
Abstract:
Several new routes to the growth, preparation and manipulation of graphene and its derivatives will be presented. The graphene growth can be controlled for monolayer, bilayer and multilayer structures. The graphene derivatives include graphene oxide, graphene oxide nanoribbons, graphene nanoribbons, edge functionalized graphene nanoribbons, and intercalated multilayer structures with precise real-time de-intercalation being observed. The use of graphene in electronics, materials and oil exploration applications will be discussed.
