Primary tabs

The School of Building Construction at the Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for two faculty positions in the general areas of construction management or facility management, with a strong technical component. The positions are anticipated to be filled at the Assistant Professor level; however, appointments at the Associate Professor level might be considered for outstanding candidates. A doctoral degree in building construction, construction engineering, facility management, or a related field of study is required. The target start date for the position is August 16, 2012, and the search will remain open until the positions are filled.

The School of Building Construction seeks to become the leading force of innovation in integrated project delivery, integrated facility management and program management. Its undergraduate degree is accredited by the American Council for Construction Education. Its graduate degree is accredited by the International Facility Management Association and recognized by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. With an undergraduate enrollment of 125 undergraduates and 120 graduate students, the School of Building Construction is the fastest growing among the five schools in the College of Architecture. A Ph.D. degree with a major in Building Construction was approved by the Institute’s Graduate Curriculum Committee and by the Faculty Senate, and is awaiting approval by the Board of Regents in Fall 2011.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach graduate and undergraduate courses; develop a sponsored research program; advise and mentor students; collaborate with other faculty in multidisciplinary research; interact and participate in outreach activities; and be involved in service to the Institute and the profession. Scholarly collaborations with other units in the College of Architecture and across campus with the College of Engineering, the College of Management, and the College of Computing, are expected.

The School seeks candidates with expertise in construction technology/BIM applications, program management/integrated project delivery, and/or facility operations/sustainability.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, including academic and professional experience, a list of conference and journal publications, a one‐page statement of teaching philosophy, a one‐page statement of research interests and objectives, and the names and contact information for at least five professional references as a single PDF file to BC‐Search@gatech.edu.
