SEMSS, the Southeast Medical Scientist Symposium, is the Southeast Regional Meeting of the American Physician Scientist Association. It is jointly planned by students from the Medical Scientist Training Programs at Emory University, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and Vanderbilt University.

What to Expect:

  • Keynote presentations by leading physician-scientists, including Jacques Galipeau, MD, Denise Koo, MD MPH and Marie Csete, MD PhD
  • Poster sessions for students at all levels of training
  • Variety of breakout sessions including:
    Translational Research: the Questions, the Path, the Outcome
    Using Your MD for More than Medicine
    Pipettes, Marriage, Kids and Fun: Keeping the Balance
  • Time to network with current trainees and aspiring medical-scientists
