Summary Sentence: Professor Luke P. Lee of UC Berkeley will discuss his work on nanosatellites.

Full Summary: Professor Luke P. Lee, Arnold and Barbara Silverman Distinguished Professor of Bioengineering at UC Berkeley, will discuss his work on nanosatellites that have multiple functions in living systems: targeting, imaging, gene delivery and regulations.

Professor Luke P. Lee, Arnold and Barbara Silverman Distinguished Professor of Bioengineering at UC Berkeley, will discuss his work on nanosatellites that have multiple functions in living systems: targeting, imaging, gene delivery and regulations. He will also discuss his vision for precision biology and preventive personalized medicine via cellular BASICs (Biologic Application Specific Intergrated Circuits) – Self-powered Integrated Microfluidic Blood Analysis System (SIMBAS) and Optofluidic Application Specific Integrated System (OASIS).

Lee is also director of Biomedical Institute for Global Healthcare Research & Technology, and co-director of Berkeley Sensor & Actuator Center. He received both his B.A. and Ph.D. from UC Berkeley. His current research interests are bionanoscience, biophotonics, molecular imaging of living cells, molecular diagnostics, and preventive personalized medicine by Bioinspired Photonics-Optofluidics-Electronics Technology and Science (BioPOETS).

Lee has authored and co-authored over 250 papers on single cell analysis, optofluidics, microfluidic quantitative cell biology, biotechnology, BioMEMS, nanoplasmonic PRET, SERS for label-free detection of biomolecular interactions, optoelectronics, and SQUIDs.

This seminar is presented by the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech and Emory University.
