College of Computing Brings Master's Curriculum to Korea University with New Dual Degree

Primary tabs

The Georgia Tech Board of Regents has recently approved a Dual Degree Masters Program in Embedded Software to be administered jointly by the College of Computing and Korea University (KU), Seoul, South Korea. The College of Computing won the bid to run this program as a result of an open competition held by the Ministry of Information and Communication of the South Korean Government.

The new program will be fully funded by the South Korean Government, and will aim to re-train engineers already working in leading South Korean companies such as Samsung, LG, and KT in the area of embedded software. Students enrolled in the program will receive a Master's degree in Computer Science specializing in embedded software upon completion of the program requirements, which will be met by a combination of Georgia Tech and KU courses. College of Computing faculty will deliver courses in person on the KU campus, and also online via the distance education program.

"Beyond the Master's program, the Korean Government is also encouraging leading companies to establish research collaboration with Georgia Tech," said Umakishore Ramachandran, Director of Korean Programs for the College of Computing. "Thus the program not only offers an excellent opportunity for our faculty to get a cultural immersion for a semester by going to South Korea but also opens the door for potential research collaboration with leading South Korean companies."

The program will be overseen by Ramachandran and Leo Mark, Director for International and Graduate Programs at the College of Computing.
