Full-Body 3D Scan Workshop

Primary tabs

In this workshop, users are taught how to use the handheld 3D scanner to scan their entire body. This data is then used to produce a 3D print of the person using the Invention Studio’s FDM printers. This activity can be made longer if the users want to get finer details from their scan, but most scans can be done quickly with the software filling in gaps and smoothing over the model to make a clean ready to print product.

To help make the scans easier, wear jeans and a hoodie. The scanner has trouble scanning hair so you may also want to bring a hat of some kind or use hair product. Super bright/dark/reflective clothing makes scanning more difficult.

WARNING: THIS ACTIVITY PRODUCES STRONG FLASHING LIGHTS AND SHOULD NOT BE DONE WITH PHOTOSENSITIVE USERS OR PEOPLE PRONE TO EPILIEPSY OR SEIZURES!
