Dr. Alejandro Toriello Appointed Scientific Director of Georgia Tech's Supply Chain and Logistics Institute (SCL)

We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Alejandro Toriello has been appointed as the Scientific Director of the Supply Chain and Logistics Institute (SCL), on December 1, 2023.  

In this role, Dr. Toriello will serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team of SCL. In collaboration with the other two members of this team he will share responsibility for driving overall SCL strategic planning. 

His specific responsibilities will include: 

  1. Building SCL’s interdisciplinary scientific capabilities (knowledge, expertise, skills) by attracting campus-wide teams of faculty, staff, student research assistants, and international scientific collaborators to SCL activities and initiatives 

  1. Fostering and supporting SCL members in developing creative, disruptive, and game-changing scientific research and education projects in line with SCL’s core mission, including collaborative projects with other institutions and stakeholders 

  1. Shaping SCL’s leading-edge scientific vision and priority threads across disciplines. 

As a distinguished professor in the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Georgia Tech, Dr. Toriello brings a wealth of expertise in the theory and application of supply chain management, logistics, and transportation, as well as a deep understanding of optimization methodologies.  

His exemplary work and commitment to advancing the field have been evident throughout his career, culminating in this well-deserved appointment to a leadership role.  

We congratulate Dr. Toriello on this significant achievement and look forward to witnessing the continued impact of his leadership in advancing the field of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Georgia Tech.
