Title: Optimizing 5D free-running cardiac MR imaging for rapid assessment of respiratory related cardiac disease

Abstract:
Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) is a radiation free alternative to computed tomography for assessing cardiac anatomy and function. CMR has evolved from breath-hold, ECG gated 2D cardiac cine imaging, to free-breathing self-gated 3D cardiac imaging with additional cardiac and respiratory dimensions for comprehensive analysis (5D free-running CMR). As the dimensionality grows and the acquisition is made faster by optimized acquisition trajectories, but the subsequent image reconstruction, a process defined as recovering the underlying image from the acquired k-space data is becoming more challenging. In this proposal, we focus on developing advanced numerical and DL-based methods to achieve efficient and accurate reconstruction for 5D free-running CMR exam.
