The Administrative Services Center (ASC) has selected Wendon “Buddy” Vail as the next Senior Director of Operational Excellence (OPEX) following a comprehensive search and interview process. 

Vail brings more than 15 years of leadership and operational excellence experience, most recently having served as Director – Performance Improvement for CBRE. Throughout his career, he successfully implemented OPEX programs and Lean Journey for many organizations with significant focus on people and organizational growth, around building a team environment that embraces team engagement and constantly looking to create winning opportunities for everyone involved.   

He will leverage his experience to ensure the effective operations within the ASC. His portfolio of work within the ASC includes continuous improvement, organizational change management and readiness, technology strategy implementation, program portfolio management, learning and development, knowledgebase management and metrics development and reporting.  

Vail received a bachelor's degree in Industrial & Systems Engineering from North Carolina Agricultural &Technical State University, a master's degree in business from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and earned his Lean Six Sigma Black Belt from Georgia Tech. 

In his spare time, Buddy enjoys spending time with his family and their four dogs and playing as much golf as weather will allow. He is excited about the opportunity to join the team at Georgia Tech and to be part of the transformation efforts underway.
