Primary tabs

Yves Berthelot and Steve McLaughlin have been assigned the grade of “Chevalier dans l’Ordre nationale de Merite”—the grade of knight in the French National Order of Merit. This notification came from Valérie Pécresse, the Minister of Higher Education and Research for France, last month.

French nationals, as well as nationals of foreign countries, can be received into the order for distinguished and meritorious service to French society. It represents the second highest civilian award accorded by France. Berthelot and McLaughlin’s awards were made on the advice of the Minister of Higher Education and Research.

Berthelot is president of Georgia Tech-Lorraine and McLaughlin is vice provost for international initiatives. Both recipients have played a significant role in establishing alliances between Georgia Tech and French governmental, industrial and academic entities. The receipt of this honor reflects the recognition and appreciation of the French government to their roles in advancing the education, research and economic development of France.
