Virtual Workshop: “Inclusivity at the Edge”: Policy Design for Digital Technologies

Primary tabs

As part of its Advanced Rehabilitation Research Training: Inclusive Technology and Policy Design Research Fellowships (ARRT) Project, sponsored by the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR), the Georgia Institute of Technology invites you to attend the virtual scoping workshop, “Inclusivity at the Edge”: Policy Design for Digital Technologies.

This workshop brings together graduate and postgraduate (i.e., doctoral and postdoctoral) researchers in the areas of rehabilitation engineering, engineering, or computer science with a focus on accessibility, usability, and other perspectives, along with policy experts, practitioners, and industry partners. Using a collaborative design process, the group will identify key social and policy-related problems and solutions to the adoption and use of digital technologies for advancing employment opportunities as well as enhancing independent living outcomes of individuals with disabilities.

We specifically invite participants who are currently in the final year of their doctoral (or terminal degree) programs or Ph.D. recipients within one year of completing their degrees to participate in this exciting workshop to explore the intersection of policy and technology.

Attendees will join virtually through Zoom for two 2.5-hour sessions.

Sessions will involve matching Fellow candidates with policy experts and industry leaders for intensive discussions about the possibilities of next-generation IoT technologies, cloud and edge computing, robotics, and artificial intelligence to create new opportunities for employment, community participation, and independent living outcomes of people with disabilities.
