Science Policy Around the World in 2022: Innovations and Uncertainties in the Global Knowledge System

During the last two years, we have been living in a foreign world. Most activities have been altered in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, shifting our ways of living and interaction with others. Even the mechanisms through which we gather knowledge have changed. In the process, scientific research has received renowned attention, not just for biomedical innovations developed to respond to the deadly virus, but also for projects designed to deal with our uncertain future. Cleaner energy, new materials, and even space exploration are getting societal attention around the world.

In this panel, we bring together three experts from around the world to offer us their take on how national innovations systems have changed in recent years, what new interesting opportunities for collaboration have arisen, and the challenges that persist in connecting knowledge around the world for inspiring and impactful research. This conversation will explore what´s going on in the international science policy scene, aiming to find new venues for fruitful interaction for researchers and scholars, as well as offering us a window into how science has been changing in recent years beyond the U.S.
