BIO:
Isabelle Durant is currently Vice President of the European Parliament. She is a member of The Greens and holds membership in the Budget Committee and the Committee of Transport and Tourism. After graduating as a nurse, Isabelle Durant then went on to receive a degree in social and economic policies and social promotion at Fopes/UCL University. At the beginning of her professional career, she carried out school medical examinations in working-class districts, before working as a professional teacher in Brussels, as well as in the field of social development in local areas. She then launched her impressive political career, which has included positions such as Federal Secretary and Spokesperson of Ecolo (1994-1999 and 2004-2009) Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Mobility and Transport in the Belgian Verhofstadt Government (1999-2003) and her current position since 2009, elected MEP and appointed Vice President of the European Parliament.
