Barke Authors Book Chapter on Public Affairs Education

Primary tabs

Richard Barke, associate professor and director of undergraduate studies in the School of Public Policy, contributed a chapter to the book Undergraduate Public Affairs Education. His chapter is titled “Degree Components and Instructional Design.”

In it, Barke highlights the benefits of “core competencies” in undergraduate public affairs programs. However, he then goes on to argue that these crucial competencies can be difficult to define and will vary widely across institutions. A number of things can contribute to this difference, including the various forms said competencies can take across programs.
