Abstract: The objective of this research is to develop full-FM-band (full-frequency-modulation-band) and full-UHF-TV-band (full-ultra-high-frequency-television-band), quasi-isotropic, kilometer-range, ambient RF (radio frequency) energy harvesting systems for WSN/IoT (wireless sensor node / internet of things) devices and to validate their operability through detailed field testing with emphasis on real-world usability. The broader impact of the proposed research is to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed harvesting systems that focus on real-world usability, thereby encouraging researchers in the field to also focus their efforts on real-world usability. This has a potential impact to advance ambient RF energy harvesting towards maturation and widespread adoption in WSN/IoT applications.
