Weber, Hayes Publish Post on Deglobalization, Vulnerable Communities

Primary tabs

Katja Weber, professor in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, and Jarrod Hayes, former Nunn School faculty and current associate professor at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, teamed up to publish a post in the Oxford University Press’s blog. The piece is titled “Why increasing deglobalization is putting vulnerable populations at risk.”

In it, Weber and Hayes discuss how globalization includes physical technologies as well as social ones, and the latter is usually the bigger site of increasing isolationism, or deglobalization. They argue that as countries isolate their social norms from each other, human rights violations are more likely to occur without penalty from the international community.
