Nunn to Receive Ivan Allen Prize for Social Courage

"Former U.S. Sen. Sam Nunn will be honored by Georgia Tech for his work on national security and defense. He will be honored March 15 during a luncheon at the Atlanta university with the inaugural Ivan Allen Jr. Prize for Social Courage. The prize carries a $100,000 award funded by private donations. It is named after Allen, a former Atlanta mayor who fought for rights for black residents in the 1960s. Nunn, who retired from the Senate in 1996, is Distinguished Professor in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, and chief executive officer of the Nuclear Threat Initiative."  Source:  Associated Press, March 7, 2011
