Now that the Mars Perseverance Rover has safely landed, here is a flashback to summer 2020, when anticipation was high for the then-imminent launch of the rocket that would take the rover to Mars. In this NASA Astrobiology video, Jennifer Glass, associate professor in the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, discusses the importance of methane, a possible biosignature on Mars, and her hope of Perseverance discovering stromatolites, which are geologic structures that are signs of past life.
