Abstract: The objective of the proposed research is to develop new strategies that add more functionality and intelligence to grid-connected inverters. While the current grid paradigm is based on centralized control of large synchronous generators, the future grid will consist of millions of inverter-based sources that contribute to energy transactions in the system. In such environment, centralized control is not feasible and inverters need to act autonomously and leverage intelligence to make the best use of local information. Moreover, the actions should be done in a collaborative manner to ensure stable operation of the grid. The existing solutions do not meet these requirements. Therefore, the proposed research aims to find novel solutions that contribute to this transition and bring inverters closer to full autonomous operation.
