Undergraduate Research Symposium and Awards

Primary tabs

Undergraduates from across campus will share their research at the 6th Annual Undergraduate Research Spring Symposium and Awards.

Students will present their research using either a poster or oral presentation format. The event is open to the entire campus community and all students, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend and see the vast array of research being performed by undergraduates at the Institute.

"This event is the culmination of efforts, not only by the participating undergraduates, but of the faculty and graduate mentors at Tech," said Christopher Reaves, director of undergraduate research and student innovation. "This forum allows students the opportunity to communicate and garner feedback about their work and engage in interdisciplinary discourse and possible future collaboration ... the breadth of projects runs the gamut and the level of research is unparalleled when compared to other undergraduate research symposia."

Approximately 140 students will participate this year, with 33 oral presentations and 69 poster presentations. Awards will be given to the top poster and oral presentation from each college, and additional awards will be given to the Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher from each college.

The presentations will take place in the Student Center Ballroom and the surrounding rooms.

The event's schedule is as follows:

  • 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. — Oral Presentations
  • 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. — Poster Presentations
  • 5:15 p.m. to 6 p.m. — Awards Ceremony
