Abstract:
This talk will be an overview of nanotechnology activities in South Africa, including discussion of the development of nanotechnology in the country, with detail on research at the Tshwane University of Technology.

Bio:
Leskey Mduduzi Cele obtained a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Johannesburg. The work was on the synthesis of CNTs by nebulised spray pyrolysis and the use of the CNTs as supports in catalysis. He was a senior lecturer at the University of Johannesburg for 111 years and is currently employed in a similar position at the Tshwane University of Technology. His duties include undergraduate classes as well as the supervision of nanotechnology-related research projects. Dr. Cele chairs the South African Nanotechnology Initiative (SANi), the main stakeholder group in nanotechnology in the country.
