Summer Studies 2020 in Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts

Primary tabs

Summer classes planned in the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts are being offered so students won’t miss the opportunity to enhance their resumes and learning experiences. Both graduate and undergraduate courses will be taught online. These include 3-week Maymester classes that are being piloted, some study abroad courses, summer minor coursework, and many courses that will allow Georgia Tech students to complete their humanities or social science electives.

“We’re really trying to spread the word to students across Georgia Tech about all the humanities and social sciences coursework being offered online this summer,” said David Shook, director of Undergraduate Studies for the College. “We know that our summer programs are critical to students wanting to progress and reach graduation faster and better prepared, so we’re transitioning a large selection of our courses to online.”

Shook noted that, even though it is counterintuitive, some study abroad courses are being offered virtually.

“This summer is the only opportunity some students will have for study abroad learning,” said Shook. “Faculty have led these programs for many years and, those who are able to, are being highly creative in making aspects of those programs available to students in an online format.”

Study Abroad

No study abroad programs will be taught outside of the U.S. in summer 2020. However, some of the programs will be offering portions of their courses on-line, and some of these are open to students who were not accepted to the original program. Please consult the individual program pages for more details.

Full Summer and Short Summer Sessions

As in past summers, undergraduates may take a full schedule of classes between Spring and Fall semesters to explore new electives or complete degree requirements. Students can take classes during Early Short Summer or Late Short Summer Sessions. The compressed sessions allow students to complete full semester classes.

Early Short Summer: May 11-June 12, 2020
Late Short Summer: June 23-July 30, 2020.
