Margaret Kosal Gives Invited Talk at NASEM

Primary tabs

Margaret Kosal, associate professor in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, gave an invited talk on Feb. 27, 2020 at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM).

Kosal's talk, titled "Democratization of Emerging Technologies and Counterproliferation," was part of a workshop organized by the Intelligence Community Studies Board (ICSB) and part of the National Counterproliferation Center (NCPC).

The talk specifically covered technology that is "cheap, amenable to non-laboratory conditions, and can be done by non-specialists." She also spoke on the effects of the global environment on how that technology could be used.

Both the ICSB and NCPC, which report to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, are involved with gathering scientific knowledge and expertise on issues involving intelligence and national defense. The NCPC works to prevent the manufacture and spread of chemical, biological and nuclear weapons.

The Sam Nunn School of International Affairs is a unit of Georgia Tech's Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts
