Title: Development of a Novel Porcine Disease Model of Glioma

Summary: Whether in the brain or spinal cord, high-grade gliomas have a clinical picture of untenable morbidity and mortality. In part, this represents a disease process that is refractory to various treatment approaches. On the other hand, this raises the question of the translational value of current models. In the present research proposal, a pathway to the development of a novel and immunocompetent large animal model of high-grade glioma in the brain and spinal cord is described. Here it is proposed to utilize lentiviral gene transfer to the porcine central nervous system to induce the formation of high-grade gliomas with subsequent radiologic, immunohistochemical, inflammatory, and transcriptomic characterization.
