Mathematical fun and games at the Julia Robinson Mathematics Festival

Primary tabs

On September 14, the Harn Museum of Art at the University of Florida hosted a Julia Robinson Mathematics Festival, in which K-12 students were challenged to think critically and have fun exploring mathematical concepts with interactive, hands-on activities. This festival was co-organized by SCMB researcher Peter Bubenik of the University of Florida. Festivals occur throughout the country and are locally organized events. The event included tables with games and puzzles, with an atmosphere of social engagement and encouragement. If you are interested in attending or hosting an event like this, please visit the Julia Robinson Mathematics Festival website.

Bubenik is a senior researcher at SCMB. He is a mathematician working in topological data analysis, and currently collaborating with Hang Lu of Georgia Tech to understand the genetic control of morphological phenotype in their SCMB-funded seed project.
