Library Dean Search

Primary tabs

Provost Rafael L. Bras has convened a search committee tasked with selecting the new dean for the Georgia Tech Library, filling a vacancy left by Dean Catherine Murray-Rust. The search will be supported by a external search firm and chaired by Jason Freeman, professor and chair in the School of Music.

Announced in February, Murray-Rust will step down in summer 2020 and will focus on successful completion of the Library Next project, library resource development, and fundraising. To facilitate that effort, Leslie Sharp, associate vice provost for Graduate Education and Faculty Development is currently serving in the role of interim CEO until the search is completed.

Michael Toney, director of Academic Administration, will serve as administrative lead for the search.

A town hall for faculty, staff, and students to learn about the search process and timeline, and to provide feedback on the characteristics of ideal candidates has been scheduled as follows:

Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 11 a.m.
Clough Undergraduate Learning Commons, Room 152

Nominations can be sent to provostsoffice@gatech.edu.

Details on the selection of a search firm as well as an application link will be made available on the search site once details are finalized.
