How to Afford Study Abroad

Sept. 13 from 3 to 4pm in Student Center #319

Please join the Office of International Education for an information session that will discuss how to afford studying abroad. The session will cover things student should know when looking at study abroad, scholarships opportunities (both local and national), how to craft a competitive application, and non-traditional ways of raising money for an experience abroad.

 

Study Abroad 101: Summer Study Abroad Edition

Sept. 17 from 11am -12pm in Student Center Room #320

These sessions are intended to give students general study abroad information to help them get started in selecting a summer study abroad program.

 

Global Internship Resource Expo

Sept. 19 from 10am-1pm in the Student Center Ballroom

The Expo will highlight opportunities for students to intern abroad during their time at Tech. Students will be able to interact with internship employers and providers as well as connect with previous GT interns through poster presentations. All undergraduate and graduate students interested in interning outside of the US are encouraged to attend!

 

OPT Workshop

Sept. 19 at 11am in D.M. Smith #105

For F-1 students interested in working off-campus before and after earning their degree using Optional Practical Training (OPT).

 

Gilman Scholarship Workshop

Sept. 19 at 3pm Student Center #320

The Gilman International Scholarship aims to diversify the kinds of students who study abroad and the countries and regions where they go by offering awards to U.S. undergraduates who might otherwise not participate due to financial constraints. OIE will be hosting a Gilman Workshop to give information about the program and tips on how to craft a competitive application. We hope to see you there!

 

Study Abroad Fair

Oct. 1 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom

The Fair showcases the wide variety of international opportunities open to undergraduate students like exchanges abroad, faculty-led study abroad programs (like the Pacific Spring Study Abroad Program or the China Summer Program), Global Internships, and more. This is the best chance for students to meet program directors, student alumni from these programs, and also get information on how financial aid and scholarships will work when they study abroad. We hope to see your students there!
