GT Serves: Into the Streets and ASB

Primary tabs

The Office of Civic Engagement and Mobilizing Opportunities for Volunteer Experiences (MOVE) hosted the 9th annual “Into the Streets” day of service on Saturday, August 24! Students visited two Atlanta-based organizations to learn more about issues affecting the Atlanta community and to do alongside our partner organizations. This year we partnered with Trees Atlanta for a Midtown planting site clean-up and Gateway Center to assist with sorting and distributing donated items to those in Gateway programs.

Despite the school year just beginning, we are already preparing for our Alternative Service Break (ASB) trips during Fall Break! This year, ASB will host four Fall Break trips: 1) Selma, Alabama: Sustainable Solutions to Human Security Needs, 2) Panama City, Florida: Hurricane Relief, 3) Cherokee, North Carolina: Great Smoky Mountains National Park Preservation, and 4) Asheville, North Carolina: Affordable Housing.

Trips will take place from Friday, October 11, through Tuesday, October 15, 2019. Participant applications are live and we welcome all Georgia Tech students to apply!
