Surprised by God: Atheist Conversions to Christianity

Dr. Jana Harmon recently finished her Ph.D. at the University of Birmingham, England in which she investigated atheist conversions to Christianity. Specifically, she surveyed and interviewed 52 former atheists to understand what formed their belief as atheists, what allowed them to turn in a different direction, and the ways God drew them towards conversion. Considering the academy reduces religious conversion to mere socio-psychological motivations, she wanted to see if and what role intellectual belief and spiritual experience played in the process. She will be interweaving conversion stories into her findings. Q&A to follow.
