New Dining Concepts, Allergen Locations

Primary tabs

Dining Services is very excited to start a new chapter with a new provider on campus to create the next best dining experience.

Allergen Labeling Changes

Over the next few weeks, you’ll start to see labeling in both Brittain and North Avenue Dining Halls directed toward food allergies and more specifically items “made without nuts.” All of the menu items served at Brittain Dining Hall will be made without nuts. North Avenue will serve items with nuts, but all items made without nuts will be labeled. True Balance, located at North Avenue and West Village, is a new allergen friendly station with items made without seven of the top eight food allergens: milk, eggs, wheat, peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish and soybeans. Use dining.gatech.edu as a resource to find nutritional information on all items served in our dining halls.

Full ingredient transparency will soon be available on the new dining website for all dining locations. Right now, you can use the website menu feature for Brittain, North Avenue and both True Balance locations to view the menu ingredients up to four weeks in advance. Use the filter tool to eliminate any of the top eight food allergens and identify items that are vegan or vegetarian friendly – and view nutritional information for every item being served in the dining halls during a particular day.

For assistance navigating your specific allergen needs, email nutrition@gatech.edu to get in touch with our nutritionists.

New Concepts

Notice any change on campus? Over the summer, we refreshed some dining locations and introduced some brand new menu items.

In the Student Center Food Court you’ll see:

·         Chattahoochee River Smokehouse, a BBQ establishment.

·         Southern Kitchen, which will serve comfort food.

·         A Mediterranean location called Mazi.

·         Sushi with Gusto.

·         Graze salad bar.

Over at West Village, we partnered with local Atlanta chef and restauranteur, Linton Hopkins to refresh three of the micro-restaurants on the second floor.

·         Trattoria features pizza and pasta favorites.

·         Iron Skillet which will serve hearty breakfast food and grill favorites for lunch and dinner.

·         Limon & Chile where students will find tex-mex breakfast, lunch & dinner offerings.

Umami Shoppe will be serving Asian fare as West Village, with a range of items from bento boxes to sushi.

Last but certainly not least we are excited to announce a brand new convenience store opening up inside North Avenue Dining Hall! White & Gold Provisions will give students a plethora of grab-n-go options, everything from beverages and snack, to health and beauty products.

Student Feedback

We are putting a huge emphasis on customer service and food quality. There is nobody more important to us than our students and guests and we want to make sure that the customers' voices are heard. We are excited to put programs in place that allow us to feel the pulse of the campus community. Everything from Resident Advisor round tables to our new Voice of the Consumer platform, we are putting a focus on student feedback. You can give feedback at any time by going to yourdiningvoice.com!

We are thrilled to put our sustainability initiatives in place starting immediately this semester, from eliminating styrofoam and straws, to responsibly sourcing our food. Expect more to come on our sustainability programs.

We at GT Dining Services are excited for this year and hope you enjoy new options, new programs, and excellent quality and service!
