Artists' Talk: "Cut and Paste" Reception and Artists' Panel

Primary tabs

On Friday, September 6, the Robert C. Williams Museum of Papermaking hosts an artists’ talk on the Cut & Paste: Works of Paper exhibit. Join curator Didi Dunphy of the Lyndon House Arts Center and artists Samuel Stabler, Kalina Wińska, and Matt Haffner as they talk about their inspiration and processes for the works included in the exhibit.

The reception begins at 6pm, and the artist talks will start at 7pm. This event is free and open to the public.

Didi Dunphy, exhibit curator, traveled across Georgia to select contemporary artists to participate. Cut and Paste: Works of Paper examines ways in which working artists manipulate paper to create remarkable and varied works of art. She will lead a conversation with three of the eleven artists included in the exhibit, discussing inspiration, technique, and experiences.

Throughout Samuel Stabler’s career, he has worked and re-worked found images. His cut paper works in the exhibit are inspired by sources ranging from the Old Masters to contemporary pop culture.  http://www.samuelstabler.com/

Kalina Wińska is an associate professor at Valdosta State University. Her mixed-media drawings on paper are inspired by weather analysis: essentially “abstracted snapshots of cloudscapes visibly marked with human activity.” http://www.kalinawinska.com/

Atlanta-based Matt Haffner is a photographer and mixed-media and installation artist. Haffner’s works included in the exhibit are made from humble materials that “are an exercise in simplicity and nuance.” http://matthaffner.com/
