8th Annual Conference on Health and Humanitarian Logistics

Primary tabs

The Georgia Tech Center for Health & Humanitarian Systems (CHHS) will host a global conference next month on challenges and new solutions in disaster preparedness and response, long-term development and humanitarian aid, and global health delivery. The 8th annual Conference on Health and Humanitarian Logistics (HHL) will take place August 29th – 31st at the Georgia Tech Global Learning Center, connected to the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center.

Co-directors of the Center for Health & Humanitarian Systems (CHHS), Julie Swann and Pinar Keskinocak, look forward to the potential for substantive, in-depth discussions among partners across different sectors who are often not convened in the same room.

"It's great to bring the conference back to Atlanta, after it was hosted in South Africa, Mexico, Malaysia, and Germany. CHHS hopes it will provide opportunity for Georgia Tech faculty, students, staff, and the broader community to connect with others in the global health and humanitarian sectors," said Swann.

The agenda features plenary panels and interactive workshops on a variety of topics related to supply chain management and logistics in global health and humanitarian response and development, as well as poster sessions on innovative research, technology demos, and ample opportunities for networking. Dr. Anne Schuchat, Principal Deputy Director of the CDC, and Michelle Nunn, President and CEO of CARE USA will be this year’s keynote speakers.

Panel topics include:

• Strengthening Public Health Systems

• Managing Complex Supply Chains in Refugee Crisis Response

• Designing Supply Chains for Health Emergencies

• Matching Supply with Demand in Disaster Response

On the second day of the conference, August 30th, there will be a technology exhibit where organizations will showcase their solutions to humanitarian challenges.

The HHL Conference is co-organized by INSEAD Humanitarian Research Group, the MIT Humanitarian Response Lab, and Northeastern University. Visit the conference website for more information and to register before July 22 for the early bird rate.
