Kick Up Your Fitness this May with the CRC

Primary tabs

National Fitness Day was May 4! How did you spend this holiday? The Campus Recreation Complex (CRC) is proud to be a part of your fitness journey and is dedicated to helping you find what inspires you. Check out this list of ways the CRC can help you get your fitness journey back on track this May!

Free Group Fitness Classes:

CRC patrons are invited to try any fitness class for FREE all week long during preview week. This week runs from May 13-May 19 just as the class schedule transitions to summer classes. These classes are a great way to meet new people in the Georgia Tech community, improve your form, all while having a great time. Classes were created with all interest and fitness levels in mind.  Assistant Director of Group Fitness, Elisha Smith said, “We created our class schedule to cover a wide range of interests. We understand and recognize that not everyone who sets foot in our gym wants to be a bodybuilder so we incorporate programs to reach everyone.” Group fitness memberships are available for all CRC members and can be purchased online or at the member services desk for the entire semester. For more information about the schedule and purchasing a pass go to crc.gatech.edu/group-fitness.

Summer Intramurals:

Say hello to your inner athlete with CRC intramurals. Registration for Phase 1 opens May 21st through May 30th for sand volleyball and 4v4 soccer. Intramurals are a great excuse to widen your social circle and get involved on campus.  "Intramurals are the perfect antidote to college stress. You get to meet new people and exercise with friends. You might even get a cool t-shirt out of it! We offer so many different sports at different times that it doesn’t matter if you live on campus or commute, intramurals have something for you,” said Abby Harvey, CRC competitive sports coordinator. For a list of all summer sports, dates and registration go to crc.gatech.edu/ intramural.

Adventure Trips:

Adventure trips are back this summer beginning in May. This unique experience brings you into the outdoors with a guided expedition, all gear, and transportation to the site. These trips range from backpacking, vertical caving, cascading, rock climbing, kayaking, and mountain biking. These trips are available to all Georgia Tech students, faculty, staff, and alumni. You can also venture out on your own with equipment rentals at the Wilderness Outpost. Find out everything you need to know for your next adventure at crc.gatech.edu/outdoor.

President’s Walk:

Join President Peterson for his last walk around campus as President on May 16th at 4:30 pm outside the CRC! The President’s Walk is a time-honored tradition where President “Bud” Peterson guides students and employees through campus along the Tyler Brown Pi Mile. This event is part of Employee Well-being Week. The walk begins with opening ceremonies by President Peterson at 4:30 pm. The first 50 people to check in and complete at least one loop of the course will receive one of the final President’s Walk t-shirts. To register for the event go to crc.gatech.edu/presidents-walk.

In addition to all of the above, the CRC is a world-class facility offering aquatics programs, fitness classes and programs, competitive sports, and outdoor recreation all semester long. Whatever your style, the CRC has a program, activity, or service for you that will best fit your journey to becoming a healthy Yellow Jacket®! For a full list of updated programs and events go to, crc.gatech.edu.
